As a compilation of photographs documenting the experience of motherhood around the globe, The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) published the coffee table book Best Practices and Photography from The Safe Motherhood Initiative in Latin America and the Caribbean gifted to diplomats and government officials. The design included the layout of hundreds of photos taken by real families in different countries, typographic treatments, and special award sections. The design helped exposing disparities in income distribution and inequalities related to place of residence, ethnic groups, gender, and other factors. Working directly with PAHO’s chief digital media and design, as well as production staff, we collaborated through a smooth process where the large amount of assets needed to remain neatly categorized.
